to Scuba Dive at the same time as you? Family discounts available only when taken together, call and ask for more
information on the family discount program.
- The following is a list of scheduled Open Water Classes. The Open Water class is the first class you have to take
to become a Certified Scuba Diver, You can move up in the Scuba Ranks from there if you wish.

- There are 2 words of warning for you if you are shopping around for a Scuba Class. So please take note.
1. Make sure the class your taking is a FULL Certification class, Just ask if you will be a certified Open Water
Scuba diver when the class is done. Here at The Newport Diving Center all of our classes ARE certification classes and
you will receive a PADI certification when you have completed the class in full from a PADI 5 Star Facility.
2. Many places do no tell you everything you need until you need it, and it could unexpectedly cost you a lot
more money then you expected to finish the class. We hide nothing we will tell you what the student needs to supply and
what we supply for the class, it is all listed below the class schedule(s).

What the student needs to supply.
Everything listed below is the minimum you need, this is also known as Basic Snorkeling Gear, remember you get 15% off
any gear you need to purchase for this class.
- Scuba Mask
- Scuba Dive Fins
- Scuba Snorkel
- Scuba Booties
- Weight Belt + Weights (10% of body weight + 15 pounds)
- Weight Stops (Prevents the weights from sliding on your weight belt)
- Gloves
- Hood - If Needed
- Dive Log
- Dive Knife - Not mandatory but highly recommended.
- Underwater (Dive) Watch - Not mandatory but highly recommended.
Here at Newport Diving Center you can purchase any or all of these items or more with a student discount
(on any Scuba equipment that is not already marked down). To receive a student discount you must be a paid
student for any of our Scuba classes.
If you are using older or borrowed Scuba gear please bring it to The Newport Diving Center for inspection
before the classes begins, not on the day of the class, so we can make sure it is okay for the class.
